As part of the new Modernizing Privacy Legislation Act ("Bill 25"), which comes into force on September 22nd, 2022, we are pleased to appoint Dr. Sabrina Mancini as our Client Privacy Officer. Dr. Mancini will be responsible for, among other things:

1. in the event of a confidentiality incident involving personal information:

a. take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of harm to the persons concerned and to prevent further incidents of a similar nature;

b. notify the Commission d'accès à l'information ("CAI") and the person concerned if the incident presents a risk of serious harm;

c. keep a record of incidents, a copy of which shall be provided to the CAI on request;

2. comply with the new framework on disclosure of personal information without consent for study, research or statistical purposes and in the context of a commercial transaction;

3. conduct a Privacy Impact Assessment ("CAI") before disclosing personal information without consent for study, research or statistical purposes; and

4. disclose prior to the CAI the verification or confirmation of identity by means of biometric features or measurements.
