Dr. El Kholy

Dr. Karim El Kholy is an Associate Professor at the Division of Periodontics, Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and a Lecturer at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. El Kholy earned his Doctor of Medical Science Degree and Certificate in Oral Implantology from Harvard University.

While at Harvard, he was recruited by his mentor Prof. Daniel Buser, to launch a digital transformation in surgical implant treatment planning at Bern. Previously Dr. El Kholy was a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Periodontology Externship program at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where he was awarded the Best Faculty Award in 2010.

Dr. El Kholy earned his master’s degree and Certificate in Periodontics from Indiana University, where he was awarded the Henry M. Swenson Award for didactic and academic excellence by and the prestigious Chasen’s fellowship by the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation in 2007.

During his time at Harvard, Dr. El Kholy was awarded the prestigious Presidential Scholarship by the President of Harvard University and was the Director of the Harvard Graduate Business Club. Building on his business education he went on to complete a Post-Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from the University of Cambridge Judge School of Business, in England.

He is currently a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. El Kholy is active in clinical and basic science research in the fields of periodontology, Implant dentistry, digital treatment planning, immunology and tissue regeneration.
